Before you start filling in the blanks, take a moment to read through the text to understand the context. If the words provided in the box aren't function words (like prepositions or conjunctions), ensure that you know their meanings.

If the text seems too challenging for your current proficiency level, consider reading the English translation (EN text) first to grasp the main idea. Go through it once, then return to the exercise.

Original text

The arrival of the New Year brings with it the idea of a fresh start. This idea drives us to make promises and set goals.

“New year, new life” is a common expression, used to motivate changes to improve health, career and personal life in general.

Often, New Year’s resolutions are an attempt to correct what we feel is lacking or out of balance. However, keeping these commitments requires determination and patience, something we don’t always manage to sustain throughout the year.

Although the initial enthusiasm is powerful, the real transformation takes place in small steps and, above all, in a commitment that is renewed with each new day. Perhaps the secret lies less in changing radically all at once and more in improving progressively. So the New Year is just a starting point in a long process of continuous improvement.
