Portugal votou em Israel na Eurovisão, apesar da vitória da Suíça no concurso.

E na Eurovisão a vitória foi para a Suíça, mas se dependesse da votação do público português, tinha sido Israel a vencer.

Quem estava em casa a ver o festival votou em massa no país, cuja participação tanta polémica gerou por causa da guerra em Gaza.

Ora, fora da arena de Malmö, na Suécia, onde o concurso decorreu, milhares de pessoas protestaram. Várias foram detidas enquanto tentavam aproximar-se do recinto.

Ainda assim, o país foi o segundo mais votado pelo público europeu. Acabou em quinto lugar na classificação final.

Portugal ficou algumas posições mais abaixo.

At Eurovision, victory went to Switzerland, but if it were up to the Portuguese public, Israel would have won.

Those at home watching the festival voted en masse for the country (Israel) whose participation has caused so much controversy because of the war in Gaza.

Outside the arena in Malmö, Sweden, where the contest was held, thousands of people protested. Several were arrested as they tried to approach the arena.

Even so, the country (Israel) was the second most voted for by the European public. It ended up in fifth place in the final ranking.

Portugal was a few positions lower.
