A vingança serve-se fria.

Este provérbio diz-nos que a melhor vingança é aquela que é planeada e executada no momento oportuno e sem que a vítima esteja à espera.

Podemos contrastar uma vingança “fria” com uma vingança impulsiva e “quente.” Esta última é, normalmente, motivada pela emoção do momento e pode levar a consequências indesejadas.

No fundo, este provérbio passa a seguinte mensagem: temos maior probabilidade de sucesso, isto é, de atingir o nosso alvo com o máximo de impacto, quando planeamos cuidadosamente as nossas ações vingativas e as servimos no momento certo.

Agora, toma atenção a isto que te vou dizer. A vingança é geralmente um ato destrutivo que só leva a mais sofrimento. É sempre melhor tentar resolver os conflitos de forma pacífica e construtiva.

E claro, saber perdoar é uma virtude.

This proverb tells us that the best revenge is the one that is planned and executed at the right time and without the victim expecting it.

We can contrast “cold” revenge with impulsive and “hot” revenge. The latter is usually motivated by the emotion of the moment and can lead to unwanted consequences.

In essence, this proverb sends the following message: we are more likely to succeed, i.e. to hit our target with maximum impact, when we carefully plan our vengeful actions and serve them at the right time.

Now, attention to what I’m about to tell you. Revenge is usually a destructive act that only leads to more suffering. It’s always better to try to resolve conflicts peacefully and constructively.

And of course, knowing how to forgive is a virtue.
