Um dos problemas dos legacy media que nós estávamos aqui a falar é uma coisa que sempre me irritou muito.

Um jornalista não é um pregador. Um jornalista não serve para pôr o mundo melhor e para fazer o bem.

Isso pode até ser uma consequência do seu trabalho, porque um jornalista tem realmente essa nobre tarefa de ser um watchdog, de vigiar os poderes e ser essa espécie de cão de guarda. Essa é uma tarefa muito nobre.

Mas não serve para tentar explicar às pessoas em quem que elas devem votar, qual é que é o político que devem seguir, etc. Não servem para ser missionários, não servem para fazer o bem.

One of the problems of legacy media that we were talking about here is something that has always irritated me a lot.

A journalist is not a preacher. A journalist is not supposed to make the world a better place or to do good.

That may even be a consequence of their work, because a journalist really does have this noble task of being a watchdog, of keeping an eye on the powers and being that sort of watchdog. That’s a very noble task.

But they are not expected to people who they should vote for, which politician they should follow, etc. They’re not supposed to be missionaries, they’re not good at doing good.
