Uma semana depois de conhecidos os resultados das eleições europeias, o Conselho Europeu começa a debater mais logo os cargos de topo na União Europeia.

Os líderes dos 27, entre eles o primeiro ministro Luís Montenegro, reúnem-se num jantar informal em Bruxelas para debater o próximo ciclo institucional. A distribuição de lugares tem em conta o resultado das europeias do passado dia 9 de junho.

O objetivo é que os cargos de topo, Andreia Neves, correspondente da Antena 1 em Bruxelas, estejam escolhidos até ao final do mês.

A cimeira, na qual tudo deve ficar decidido, está marcada para os dias 27 e 28, mas os negociadores estão há vários dias no terreno.

Os primeiros ministros da Polónia e da Grécia pelo Partido Popular Europeu que ganhou as eleições, o primeiro ministro de Espanha e o chanceler alemão pelos socialistas que ficaram em segundo lugar e os primeiros ministros da Bélgica e da Estónia pelos liberais, a terceira força política no Parlamento Europeu.

Já se sabe que a distribuição dos principais cargos, presidentes da Comissão, do Conselho e do Parlamento e chefe da diplomacia europeia, tem que seguir os resultados das eleições e regras de equilíbrios nem sempre fáceis: (equilíbrios) políticos, regionais e de género.

A week after the results of the European elections were announced, the European Council will later begin debating the top positions in the European Union.
