O processo está no início mas não é um processo qualquer. E as notícias que vão chegando mostram ou que houve um erro na investigação ou que a investigação
foi desleixada…

E por isso é preciso ter explicações porque isto não é um processo qualquer. Isto é um processo que deitou abaixo um governo estável.

É um processo em que o silêncio e a própria forma como está a ser conduzido alimentam uma ideia muito perigosa: aquela ideia de que os políticos são todos corruptos, que é a ideia que alimenta depois os populismos de extrema direita e de extrema esquerda às vezes também.

E aquilo que todos nós nos perguntamos, fica no ar uma dúvida que é muito pouco saudável em contexto, em contexto democrático, que é saber se nós estamos a viver em Portugal aquilo que já se viu noutros países, que é uma instrumentalização da justiça para fins políticos.

And that’s why explanations are needed because this isn’t just any process. This is a process that brought down a stable government.

It’s a process in which the silence and the very way it’s being conducted feed a very dangerous idea: the idea that politicians are all corrupt, which is the idea that then feeds the populism of the extreme right and the extreme left at times.

And what we’re all wondering is whether we’re experiencing in Portugal what has already been seen in other countries, which is the instrumentalization of justice for political ends.
